WoodNext Foundation Steps Up with $425,000 to Help Los Angeles Small Businesses Rebuild After Wildfires

When devastating wildfires swept through Los Angeles earlier this year, LiftFund immediately mobilized to offer emergency grant funding to the small businesses who needed help. As applications poured in, it quickly became clear that the need far exceeded our initial resources.

That’s when WoodNext Foundation stepped forward with an extraordinary commitment of $425,000 in emergency grant relief, enabling us to extend our reach to dozens more small business owners desperately working to recover and rebuild.

A Critical Partnership When It Matters Most

“We are profoundly grateful to WoodNext Foundation for their timely and generous support,” says Amy Hereford, CEO of LiftFund. “The volume of applications we received in the first days after launching our wildfire relief program demonstrated the overwhelming need in these communities. Without WoodNext’s partnership, many deserving business owners would have been left waiting at a time when every day counts on the path to recovery.”

This collaboration represents more than just funding – it’s a shared commitment to preserving the small business ecosystem that forms the backbone of Los Angeles communities. For many entrepreneurs affected by the wildfires, traditional financing options remain out of reach as they navigate displaced customers, stalled insurance claims, and uncertain futures.

Beyond Immediate Relief: Building Lasting Resilience

The impact of these emergency grants extends far beyond individual businesses. As Ramiro A. Cavazos, LiftFund board member and CEO of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, explains: “Every dollar invested generates lasting economic and social benefits. Businesses reopen. Jobs are preserved. Communities recover. This partnership with WoodNext isn’t just about recovery – it’s about building resilience for the future.”

WoodNext Foundation, led by CEO and Founder Anthony Wood and his wife Susan Wood, has demonstrated their deep commitment to sustainable and inclusive economic growth through this partnership. Their contribution allows LiftFund to provide immediate assistance for critical expenses such as payroll, equipment replacement, and operational costs – often making the difference between permanent closure and a path to renewal.

LiftFund extends our deepest appreciation to WoodNext Foundation for their partnership in this critical time. Together, we’re helping Los Angeles small businesses not just survive this disaster, but emerge stronger and more resilient than before.
