McAllen and LiftFund partner for no-interest small business loans

The City of McAllen and LiftFund are offering small business owners loans up to $250,000 with a zero percent interest rate.

The loans can be used to expand or startup a new business within the city of McAllen, enabling entrepreneurs to create and sustain jobs.

The announcement was made March 7 at McAllen City Hall by Mayor Jim Darling, City Manager Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, LiftFund President and CEO Janie Barrera, and LiftFund clients and owners of Framboyent Learning Center Aurelio and Mareli Flores.

Established in 1994 in San Antonio, LiftFund is a financial and business-support service organization that helps entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses, stabilize and increase their incomes, create employment and contribute to the economic revitalization of their communities. Since the opening of the first office in the Rio Grande Valley in 1998, LiftFund has made over 2,600 loans totaling more than $25 million.
