The team at LiftFund has always worked closely with entrepreneurs of all types. Nothing has made us more proud than seeing these entrepreneurs launch, grow, and expand their businesses over time. In the 23 years that we’ve supported small business owners from all industries, we’ve seen an increase of women taking the risk of being business owners.
Our lenders work with women who are looking to create change and successfully open and manage their business. At LiftFund, we help our clients manage some of the many challenges that women experience when launching a business. Some of these challenges include:
- defying social expectations
- owning their own accomplishments
- balancing business and personal life
- fear of failure
All of these challenges are a very real part of being a woman in business, but as the numbers have shown, they are leading the charge of entrepreneurship with great success.
A Story of Success: Kink’d Hair Boutique
“As a young girl, I always dreamed of owning a salon one day,” said Jac’Quay Martin. “I knew I loved helping other people feel beautiful.”
She first started Kink’d Hair, a business sold hair wholesale and to individuals, but she wanted to do more. Through a $7,000 loan with LiftFund, Jac’Quay was able to purchase new inventory and find an affordable storefront for her business. In January 2016, Jac’Quay opened the doors to Kink’d Hair Boutique— a full-service salon that provides makeup, extensions and sew-ins to customers. She continues to give back to her community by providing internship opportunities for local Clark Atlanta University students to learn about business and marketing.
“Don’t give up, it might be competitive out there, but there’s no one that just like you,” Jac’Quay said. “You may get 100 no’s, but that next answer could be a yes, and could put you where you want to be.”
The goal here at LiftFund is to set you up for success and be a resource for you as you make your journey. Whether you need business capital, tools and resources to manage your business, or workshops to help you become a better entrepreneur, we encourage all business owners to take advantage of what we have to offer.
